Revisiting good old doordarshan

Watched all these programmes on black & white sears TV.Best/funny part was that TV had two doors.We cried when my mom gave the TV to someone and brought a colour tv.Saw few serials in black & white and few in Colour tv.When we had b@W tv,when ever chitrahaar aired,we used to run to the neighbours house (they had a colour tv) to check what colour dress the hero/heroine was wearing in that song.I started to write about doordarshan and writing about b&W tv.
The golden era of 80s-90s when Doordarshan ruled and one after another great show kept us all enthralled. With all the garbage that is shown on TV these days (esp. the annoying soaps in India), these shows bring back good old times!.

I thought i will refresh my readers and get refreshed with the old tv shows.My fav being the circus,fauji,malgudi,udan and flop show.Feel free add more,i will update my post.Here comes the videos.....

I have watched almost all the serials, you have mentioned. I am not able to open the videos today. Will try some other time. As you said those were happy days. We had only one or two channels and the whole family, parents and children, watched the same serials, discussing about them.....mmmm. Now, my husband watches something, I go out of the room....my son watches something...my husband is out! Interaction is not there. And most of the serials were watchable with the whole family.

We were crazy about Discovery of India, Tippu Sultan also! Thanks for the happy reminders, Varunavi!

Yes sandhya what u said is right,we hardly watch tv together.Each one has got there only preferences,kids want carton,hubby wants cricket and i want news/v channel.Soemtime it me who have to listen to kids and hubby and hubby listens only to kids.these things goes on in my house........

Nice reminder for the old serials..I loved PC mausi, kacchi dhoop. airhostess, khaandaan, buniyad, katha sagar besides all that you have mentioned:)

I forgot to mention about 'Tamas'. Even now I shudder at the thought of it. I used to watch it alone because my husband couldn't stand even the background music of the series. He kept asking why I was watching such a tragic story.

My son was very young, but remembers some shots of it and says he will never want to see it.

As far as TV watching is concerned, all families are the same - preference to the husband and kids. They ask us to watch in daytime, but all the good things are shown at prime time! Hmmmm..

@Chirag thanx.I forgot abt vyom kesh bakshi..will check if i get any video on that

@Renu thanx and welcome here

@Sandhya true my daughter tells me to watch when she is in the school and hubby tells me to watch when kids are sleeping.

Varunavi! I read this earlier- but could not come here to comment! Lovely , and so nostaglic! Brought back old memories! You know, our first TV had 2 doors as well :) It was a Konark! and I used to love the doors!! I still remember those days.. It was such a magical time - when TV first came into our lives.. I remember I was even ready to watch Krishi darshan if allowed - simply because of the novelty of it :)

Saritha said...

@Smitha yes we used to watch just for novelty and discuss abt that in the school.If i didnt see anything and my friends discuss abt that in the class,used to feel so bad.
